Know before you book
- Travel on Vienna’s public transport is included for the whole validity period — U-Bahn, tram, bus and the city trains.
- It is a discount card, not a free-admission card: museums and sights give a reduction, they do not let you in for nothing. That is the difference between this and the Vienna PASS.
- Validity runs from first use, not from purchase: 24, 48 or 72 hours, or seven days.
- The tourist board also sells the card bundled with an airport transfer or a hop-on hop-off ticket. We sell the plain card; buy the add-ons from them if you want them.
Questions guests ask
Does the Vienna City Card get me in for free?
No, and this is the most common misunderstanding about it. It gives a discount at museums and sights, and includes public transport outright. If you want free admission you want the Vienna PASS, which costs a great deal more and is worth it at three or more paid sights a day.
Is transport really included?
Yes — all of Vienna’s public transport, for the whole validity period, with no separate ticket to buy. That alone is most of what the 24-hour card costs.
When does the validity start?
At first use, not at purchase. Buying it the night before costs you nothing.
What do you charge on top?
Nothing. Our booking fee is €0.00 and we sell every pass at the operator’s own face value — we print the fee on your order at €0.00 rather than leaving it out.
When is buying no pass at all the right answer?
Often. A pass pays off at about three paid sights a day; below that you are better off buying admissions as you go, and we would rather say so here than sell you one.
Do you earn a commission on these?
We buy the passes and resell them at face value. That is the whole arrangement, and it is why the arithmetic on this page is not written to flatter the pass.
