One rule for this shelf: it has to be made in Vienna by a workshop we can name, and it has to survive the flight home. No fridge magnets, no plastic Mozart, no airport chocolate.

Invented here, 1900
Erwin Perzy I made surgical instruments in Hernals and was asked to get more light out of the new electric bulb. He filled a glass globe with water and semolina to scatter the beam. The lamp failed; the semolina drifting down looked like snowfall. He put a model of the Mariazell basilica inside and sold the first one to a friend’s souvenir stall.
The family still makes them by hand in the same 17th-district house — around 200,000 a year, and the snow recipe has never left the family. Every mass-produced globe in every airport in the world is a copy of this one.

The 45 mm snow globe is under 100 ml and rides in your cabin bag. The 80 mm one is not — that goes in the hold, or we post it. Same for wine and jam.
Austrian alcohol duty and courier rules make everything else painful. A packed bottle weighs 1.3 kg, and three is the cheapest unit to send.
From June to September the torte and the wafers travel in an insulated box, or we ask you to collect. We will not post chocolate into a heatwave.
Mouth-blown, walls under 2 mm. We double-box them and insure the parcel, and we would still rather hand them to you at the counter.
Every maker sells their own work too. We stock them because we send our own families home with these, not because we have a deal.
Order by 15:00 and your parcel is at our office counter the same evening — on the way to the hall rather than after it.
Prices include 20% VAT, 10% on food and books, and the handling fee is €0 on every line. Every product page names the workshop that made the thing.
Not verified
No verification line for the maker facts: the workshops’ own sources — founding years, production numbers, recipes — were not re-read on that date, so those sentences are carried from the buying notes and are not re-verified against the makers themselves.
Austria €4.90, free over €80 of shop goods. The rest of the European Union €9.90, free over €120. Rest of the world €24.90, free over €250. The same figures run the checkout, and our handling fee is €0 on all three.
Yes, free inside Vienna: order by 12:00 the day before and it is at the reception desk from 15:00. Wine is the exception — someone has to sign for alcohol in person, so it is posted to a home address or collected at our counter.
Goods leaving the EU are zero-rated, so the price you pay us carries no Austrian VAT — and the import VAT and any duty are then collected by the courier before delivery. We cannot pay it for you and we would rather say so on this page than let it arrive as a surprise.
Yes, free, at our office counter during opening hours. Order by 15:00 and it is waiting the same evening, which is the sensible route if you are at a concert that night. Our office page has the address, the door and the hours.
You have 14 days from the day the parcel is delivered to return unopened goods, food and drink excepted by law. If something arrives damaged we pay the return postage. A refund is started the same day and lands in three to five bank days, on the card that paid.
€4 a parcel: a grey board box, claret ribbon and a card written by hand at the counter with whatever you dictate. The packing slip goes out without prices, so nobody unwraps a number.
The 45 mm globe holds well under 100 ml and travels in the cabin. The 80 mm and 120 mm globes hold more than 100 ml of liquid, so they go in checked luggage — or we post them to your address instead.
Within the EU only, and never to a hotel — someone has to sign for it. A bottle weighs 1.3 kg packed; three bottles is the cheapest unit to send.
A gift card covers any concert, opera or carriage ride — delivered by email tonight or in a wax-sealed envelope.
