Three rooms, one programme

Great Gallery
Schloss Schönbrunn, Schönbrunner Schlossstraße 47, 1130 Wien
The imperial summer residence itself. Two of its state rooms are used for concerts on a few dates a year: the Great Gallery, the Rococo ceremonial hall where Kennedy met Khrushchev in 1961, and the smaller White-and-Gold Room on the ground floor.
7 nights · 2 October 2026 – 29 October 2026
Who plays
The orchestra of the Orangery
The Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra has played here since 1997 and is drawn from the players of Vienna’s own orchestras. It is a chamber orchestra, and it works with singers the way this repertoire asks: a soprano and a baritone step forward through the evening for the arias and the duets, and a dancing pair joins for the ballet numbers.
From 1 April to 31 October and over Christmas and the New Year the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra plays; from 1 November to 19 December and from 3 January to 31 March the Schönbrunn Palace Ensemble does. The programme and the prices are the same either way, and so is the room on almost every night — the Orangery that Joseph II filled with orange trees and candlelight for his winter banquets, and where in 1786 he set Mozart and Salieri against each other in a single evening.

Know before you book
- You choose your own chair inside the category you book — there are no numbered seats and no seating order. Admission to the hall begins half an hour before the start, and the earlier you arrive the wider your choice.
- About an hour and forty-five minutes with an interval. Mozart before it — overtures, arias and duets from Figaro, Die Zauberflöte and Don Giovanni — and the Strauss family after it, ending with the waltzes and the Radetzky March.
- Three rooms: the Orangery of Schönbrunn almost every night, and on a few dates the Great Gallery or the White-and-Gold Room in the palace itself. Each date prints its own room and its own start time.
- The Orangery and the palace are subject to a legally required cloakroom under § 12 of the Vienna Event Venues Act: coats, jackets, large backpacks and umbrellas are handed in, at €1 per person and item, payable there. Category VIP includes it.
- All three rooms are step-free. Tell us before you book if you need a wheelchair space, so the house can hold one for you.
- Your QR e-ticket and wallet pass are issued the moment you pay.
Questions guests ask
What is included in the price?
Everything on the ticket. The price shown is the price charged: our booking fee is €0.00 and we print it on your order at €0.00 rather than leaving it out. The cloakroom is €1 per person and item, paid at the door, and is the one thing that is not — except in Category VIP, which includes it.
When is my ticket issued?
At checkout. Your QR code, wallet pass and PDF exist the moment your card is charged.
What do the categories mean?
Where in the room you sit. VIP is the front rows and adds priority entry at the bar and the hall door, free cloakroom, a programme booklet and a glass of sparkling wine; A is the front behind it, B the middle, C the back.
Can I pick a seat?
Not a numbered one — nobody can, because there are none. You book a category and choose your own chair inside it when you arrive; the hall opens half an hour before the start.
How long is the concert?
About an hour and forty-five minutes, with an interval. There is a concert bar before it and during the interval; drinks stay in the bar area.
How should I dress?
Smart casual. There is no formal dress code and nobody is turned away for it.
Which room will I be in?
The one printed on the date you choose — almost always the Orangery, and on a few dates the Great Gallery or the White-and-Gold Room in the palace. The programme and the prices are the same in all three.
Can I change the date?
Yes, free, until 48 hours before, for the same category, up to twice. If the new date costs more you pay the difference; if it costs less, your original price stands.
Until when can I cancel?
Fourteen days from purchase, and never inside 48 hours of the concert — whichever comes first. The exact date is printed on your order line.
Will my party sit together?
You seat yourselves, so yes — arrive together and sit together. We book your party on one order so you are admitted as one.
Can I take photographs?
Not during the concert — sound, photo and video recording are not permitted for copyright reasons. Before and after it, as you like, for yourself.
What if you cannot supply it?
You are refunded in full and immediately, whatever the date, and told that we could not supply it. There is no voucher and no substitute you did not choose.
