Up to 9 seats in one booking.

This is priced the same whoever sits in the seat, so there is no separate child fare.

Choosing seats holds them for fifteen minutes while you pay. That is the only clock on this site.

How your printed card reaches you

Collection closes at whichever comes first: our counter closing on the night, or the last moment that still gets you to the venue in time. Past it the card leaves sale, so nobody is sold one they could not collect.

For this date that is Mon 5 Oct, 18:00. Hotel delivery closes earlier than collection, because the route leaves once a day. Hotel delivery for this date closes at Mon 5 Oct, 15:00. Printed cards are never posted.

Who plays

A day and a night in Rome, June 1800

Floria Tosca is a singer, Mario Cavaradossi a painter hiding an escaped political prisoner, and Baron Scarpia the chief of police who wants them both. Puccini sets the three acts in real places — the church of Sant’Andrea della Valle, the Palazzo Farnese and the Castel Sant’Angelo — across one day and one night after the news of Marengo.

The Wiener Staatsoper has played Margarethe Wallmann’s production, in Nicola Benois’s sets and costumes, since 1958. Giampaolo Bisanti conducts.

Know before you book

  • Curtain at 19:00, down at about 21:45, with two intervals. Sung in Italian; every seat has its own surtitle screen, with English and German always available.
  • Margarethe Wallmann’s production, with sets and costumes by Nicola Benois, conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti. Malin Byström sings Floria Tosca, Jonathan Tetelman Mario Cavaradossi and Ambrogio Maestri Baron Scarpia.
  • The cast is the one the house announces for this evening. Casting is the house’s to change, and a change does not change your ticket.
  • We buy these seats from the house at its public sale, like anybody else, and resell each one at the price the house prints on it. Our booking fee is €0.00.
  • A printed ticket from the house: collect it free at our office, or we deliver it free to your hotel. Never posted.
  • Each ticket is a single seat the house assigned inside its Preisgruppe, so we cannot promise that two of them are together.

Questions guests ask

Answered by the Vienna Evening counter.
  • What do you add to the price?

Nothing. The price on this page is the price the Wiener Staatsoper prints on the ticket, and our booking fee is €0.00. The house sells the same seats itself — online, by phone and at its box office — and where one is left there, buying direct costs the same.

  • What is a Preisgruppe?

The house’s own price group. The Wiener Staatsoper divides its seats into nine by their view of the stage, and what each costs depends on the evening. We hold seats in three of them; each row on this page says where in the house it is.

  • Can we sit together?

We cannot promise it. The house assigns each seat inside its Preisgruppe and we hold individual seats, so two tickets may be apart. The seat is printed on the ticket.

  • How do I get the ticket?

It is a printed ticket from the house. Collect it free at our office, or have it delivered free to your hotel — you choose at checkout. We never post it.

  • What if a singer cancels?

The performance goes ahead with the singer the house sends on and your ticket stays valid — the house’s own terms say a cast change is never a reason to return a ticket. Your own cancellation date, printed on your order line, is unaffected.

  • Until when can I cancel?

Fourteen days from purchase, and never inside 48 hours of the curtain — whichever comes first. The exact date is printed on your order line before you pay.

  • Can I change the date?

Only to another evening of the same opera that we hold, in the same Preisgruppe, until 48 hours before. For this opera we hold one evening, so today there is no other date to move to.

  • Is there a cheaper way in?

Standing room. The house sells it on the day of the performance from 10:00, online and at its box offices, for €15 to €23 on these evenings — and nobody can hold it for you, us included.

  • What happens when these seats are gone?

The row reads sold out and stays on the page. We do not buy more on the night or offer a substitute; the house’s own box office is linked from its page.
