Know before you book
- €45 per person, Wednesday to Sunday at 17:00 and 19:30, ninety minutes. Bread, cheese and water are on the table.
- Capped at ten people and led by a sommelier, in a four-hundred-year-old cellar in the first district.
- Sixteen and over. Vienna’s youth-protection law puts wine and beer at 16, so there is no child fare on any of these evenings.
- Gemischter Satz is a field blend — several white varieties planted, picked and pressed together — and it has its own DAC designation.
- We hold no stock in these evenings: a date is open or it is sold out, and no number of places is ever printed.
Questions guests ask
What is Gemischter Satz, and why does Vienna make a fuss about it?
It is a field blend: several white varieties planted together in one vineyard, picked together and pressed together, rather than blended after the fact. Vienna is the only city that kept the practice at scale, and it has its own DAC designation for it.
How many people are on the tasting?
Ten at most. It is a cellar, not a hall, and a sommelier talking to ten people is a different evening from one talking to forty.
Is there food?
Bread, cheese and water, which is what a tasting wants. It is not dinner, and the 17:00 sitting leaves you time for one.
Is there an age limit, and can children come?
Sixteen and over on all three evenings. Vienna’s youth-protection law puts wine and beer at 16, which is why there is no child fare to print.
What does it cost to book?
Our booking fee is €0.00, and we print it on your order at €0.00 rather than leaving it out.
How do I know a date is really available?
Because we ask. We hold no stock in these evenings — the tables are the house’s — so a date is open or it is sold out, and we never print a number of places, because it would be a guess about somebody else’s room.
Can I get to a concert afterwards?
The Heuriger evening ends around nine, which leaves most concerts already started. The cellar tasting at 17:00 finishes in good time for a 19:30 curtain; tell us what you are going to and we will say plainly whether it works.

Comparing?
Everything we sell, day by day, is on what’s on; the others like it are on wine and heuriger.
