The mistake is not choosing the wrong restaurant. It is allowing an hour for a meal that takes ninety minutes, and then spending the first movement thinking about it.

Why there is no list here

There was one. It carried a restaurant that had been closed for about three years, which is the ordinary fate of a restaurant list in an evergreen guide, and we withdrew it rather than replacing it with names nobody had re-checked.

A guide like this is read for years and a restaurant list decays quietly. A substitute name nobody could verify is the same defect with a fresh date on it.
